I am new to Camaroforums but have been on Mustangforums for quite a while now... so whats up. I like F-bodies and Stock for Stock they are faster I know this. I was just wondering if I was to race a stock LT1, my neighbor has one, how badly would he beat me?

a stock lt1 pushes 350 i think and i am sure the pony power is not going to be much of a challange but give him hell if you can

a stock LT1 puts out 275 hp but they still run threw ponies...no offense unless you were an 05 or 06 GT that would take a stock LT1

None taken. I know he would win. I didn't buy my car because it was the fastest thing out there. I bought it cause I love it. He is a pretty decent driver as am I so I don't know one of these days I will talk him in to going to the track with me.

hey all hows it going. just browsing around and this post caught my attention. i was jsut wondering is that 275 hp to the wheels? or the the crank.. also what would a bone stock camaro run in a quarter on street tires nad with a deecent driver??? sorry for the errors

the 275 is to the wheels, i think its around 305 at the crank, when i first got my 94 i allready had bought CAI for it, so the first time i dyno'd the car with the CAI no other mods i was pushing 270 hp and 305ftlbs tq at the wheels.

ok ur saying the 275 is at the wheels? so does that mean my 97 ss is 310 at the wheels? cause when i dynoed it it was runnin real bad and put up sum bad numbers. (242) horsepower, since then ive replaced opti, wires, coil, k&n filter, headers, plugs, hypertech powertune, 160 thermostat, 1:6 roller rockers, 90mm granatelli MAF, SLP air control temp module, throttlebody air foil. so what do u think im at then because i should definitly be above 275 at the ground now. oh another thing the 242 was my first run with the temp at about 215 degrees and about 2 mins later the temp was 235 and i lost 11 horses between those runs. oh and 2 of my plug wires and my opti was bad, plugs fouled to hell also. in about 90 degree weather too. also headers leaked between the head and headers on 1,2,3,4,5,6,8 and at the collectors at both sides. those headers were shorties the ones i got now are mid tubes. also running 87 octane gas (now i run 93) this was right when i bought the car dynoed at car craft in MN and this next summer im gonna dyno it again to see my gain over 1 year. so if im not over 275 horses at the ground now (if not the 310 ur saying my car should have) im gonna be pissed.

i actually ran a new black GT in my LT1 on the interstate from a 60 roll not too long ago and smoked him. i didnt use spray, just minor bolt-ons.. idk i just dont think regular GTs are up to par with camaros.. just seems like the Zs were just built better or something. i mean 12/13 years old to 1 year old? he shouldve been gone

Well, stock for stock the lt1 has 275 and the new mustang has 305, but it doesn't take much to get the camaro up to par and surpassing the new gt. Amazing that it took ford over 10 years to even keep up with the camaro lt1. even better the 96-97 camaro had 285 horsepower, exc the ss that had 305. but as for the quarter mile, the camaro stock runs 14.1 and the gt runs 13.9, so it is apparant to see that all is needed are a couple of mods on the camaro to beat the gt. maybe just headers, or a cai.
