Lt1 problems open to any suggestions help!!!
Have a 96 z28 with borla exhaust hooker longtube headers mass air intake bigger injectors. Just recently purchased a car that needs tlc but has great potential know the whole history of the car but was never able to get my hands on it til now tryin to help it reclaim its youth lol. The car has a miss to it and wants to backfire and pop right at 2 and a half and 3 grand and it was burning rich noticed after pickin it up from the shop one day that the airfilter was missing so got a new one and it cleared up a lil but now does it again did have exhaust leaks i replaced all my gaskets and tightened down the headers and noticed that where the o2 sensors go is welded up would that affect the performance of my car or do o2 sensors matter? When its idling it also will go up and down from half a grand to a grand and if i lay into it and stop it idles about 1 and a half grand what could be the reason for these probs please help OH YEA BOUT FORGOT THROWS OUT A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR CODE WOULD THIS AFFECT IT

Unsure. the car went through 2 of my friends who drove it til it broke down and never fully fixed it. when they eventually did fix it, it was just temporary. also, i forgot that i jusT changed the fuel filter yesterday. its got a new distributor on it too. tryin to work out all the kinks. how do i check the optispark? somebody told me to wait til night and see if it archs

Well the optispark is the distributor. If its new, when was it changed? and with what brand? The brand DOES make a difference. I would only go with GM after the experiences I've had with LT1s

Had to have it towed needed a clutch and opti the brand i believe was an ac delco its already went through 3 or 4 other ones before i bought it my buddy was puttin a couple that was about 7 to 8 hundred dollar ones the one i put on it was bout 4 kinda strapped for cash after the clutch and a few other things and do u know what kind of probs the crankshaft sensor could cause and the o2 sensors

Also felt it lose power the guy before me replaced the sparkplugs but the one in the back on the left the one thats a pain to get to was hanging out apparently he didnt tighten it down all the way and the sparkplug wire was touching my header you think the wire and plug are bad?
