LT1 Parts

Hey guys,

I recently bought a 94 z28 lt1 with a spun rod bearing. i was told i will also need to replace the crank along with a few other things.. i was just looking for somebody that could give me a list of parts i will need and some good websites to find the parts.. everywhere i look they seem to be pretty expensive. Appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Finn

i'm guessing you took it to a machine shop? depending on the mileage...i'd replace EVERYTHING. then you will be starting with pretty much a new engine and it will last a lot longer and be a lot stronger. but if you only want to replace what you need to, take it to a machine shop and have them look it over to see what exactly was damaged and needs to be replaced

new lt1 short blocks selling on ebay for 999.99. might be a good way to go.

yeah that is a good way to go but i would have a machine shop check the crank because thay can turn them down and they work just fine that is if it is not cracked you can find a rotateing assembly by eagle from summit for $611 that might be the best way to go you have to get it balanced though

you should be able to turn the stock crank if its not too bad...stock crank can handle a whole lot of horsepower as well

My friend there is no such thing as a NEW LT1. You're going to have to tear into the engine anyway and as Wham already said get it all done.

i got the final bill for the rebuild and im over $1600 right now and im only going 30 over so it is a toss up the plus with haveing the work done is that you know what has been done and why in my opinion it is better this way

if you do have to do a rebuild, i'd use some forged pistons and rods and then throw some spray at it after i got a killer top end

LT1RUNNER 03-23-2009 01:39 PM

Why spray it? If you're going to build it up do it to where you'll have high HP and spraying won't be needed! I'd rather have something there all the time. That's just me.

im with runner id rather have it there all time not just part time just supercharge it
