LT1 Fuel Line Leak
My '93 LT1 got a pin hole leak on the hard plastic fuel line right where it attaches to the metal fitting at the fuel rail. What's the common fix for this? I'm only able to find the soft rubber fuel injection hose at the supply stores. Should I replace the entire line with the soft rubber hose, or does someone make the original type lines? Is there a splicing trick to just repair the leak at the end of the line? Thanks for any help.

you could try heating it up and see if you can get it back on the fitting then clamp it. let me look around.

Hey thanks Craby...I've located a Dorner repair kit that should work for this application. I'll post how it works when I get the parts.

Dorman makes a nylon fuel repair kit. Part # 800-300 for the whole kit. They also have connectors to go nylon to nylon and sell the hose separate.

Okay...so I got some Dorner repair fittings & tubing and found that it was not so easy heating the hard tubing to install it over the fittings. Maybe it was just me, but the crap tubing kept folding over before I could push it completely over a fitting. I wasted about 3 feet of this stuff and blistered 2 fingers before giving up. Since I have other cars I can use it on, I bought the install tool and put in 3 fittings in less than 5 minutes.Works really cool! Thanks again for the help.

So u needed the install tool? Dorman sells a repair kit w/o the tool instructing to heat tubing instead?
I know the hardest part of replacing the forward section of fuel line is getting a decent price w/low shipping charge. I believe there is only 1 or 2 clips. To R&R that tubing. Thx for sharing your results. It helps us all. |
