Lt1?

RE: Lt1?
Thanks.
I like the newer style but also like the older just because its different, and in my town there are very few thirdgen's i might have the only one, I like being different. And since this is my first car im planning on keeping it for as long as i can...
If the motor is still available ill probably buy and store until i get the funds...When you said 1-2k that a big difference, would this depend on parts/labor? What if i just wanted everything back stock?
Oh, and about a tbi supercharger...mines a TPI so i dont think that would work, also with the tpi it gets better mpg than what im getting, the mpg seems ****ty as it is, wouldnt a SC make it worse??
Thanks

RE: Lt1?
I've been thinking, should i buy the engine for $250 then get it rebuilt or look for another lt1 in the $1500-2k range w/ less than 100k miles, and just swap it in?Which makes more sense?

RE: Lt1?
it might run you more money and aggrevation in the long run. Your better off finding a new motor off of jegs or something. A new 350 with 300hp will run you around $4,000 maybe. Same price as supercharging a tbi maybe. With a brand new engine, you'll have no worries plus more hp. Building from a bare block LT1 is costly and also is used. But either way, the pricing between both will be the same. It's all a matter of if you want to wait or not. Good luck to you anyways!

RE: Lt1?
P.S: also if you buy a motor from jegs, its warranty i believe is 3 years. So if something break or a part goes, they will send you a new one for free, and a certificate towards getting the motor fixed. My friend just purchased GT-40 for his 91 stang, and this is what he told me.

RE: Lt1?
That makes sense, I think im just gonna scratch the idea for now, i think ive got enough power now, plus a kid with a 300hp sports car prolly isnt the best match...haha especially in the winter here...
I think im just going to do small mods to the 305, new intake, headers, already got exhaust. I have the LB9 V8, pushing 215 stock. What else could i do to put the engine in the 250hp range?
Thanks

RE: Lt1?
Like I said before money is an issue and since im a kid and dont know a whole lot, i would have to pay someone to swap it....
Im just going to do little things to the 305,, i dont want to spend all my money on the engine, i want to redo the interior this summer.
Will exhaust, headers, and intake get me to 250hp when it came 215 stock?
