Loss of power

Vehicle: 1995 Z28 M6
Stock LT1

I was driving spiritedly up a hill (7% grade, 20 miles), and on the way back, I noticed that the car was really lacking in power. As in it would take a long time to rev up while driving, and it seemed that it was revving hard, but not really accelerating. No SES light or misfire or anything. Temperature was right under the halfway mark. The only thing I noticed was that it lost power when going around a turn, almost like it was out of fuel...

Any ideas? Im thinking the MAF was over compensating or something. But I dunno. Thanks for the help.

check fuel pressure and have it scanned for trouble codes if you can.

You said the engine was revving but not accelerating. This would indicate that the transmission was slipping. Being that this is happening when the car is not level, you may want to check the transmission fluid level.

kinda reads both ways, its a manual trans so if it is reving it could be a slipping clutch.

I missed the M6 part, so the problem is not due to low fluid level. lol

Going 20 miles, uphill, at a 7% grade......wouldn't the air be getting a bit thinner up there? Maybe something's not compensating?

Found out why I was losing power...

So I cut it off. I am running straight headers (or manifolds) I noticed a sharp drop in torque. I am assuming this is due to no backpressure. Other than it sounding like the apocalypse, will anything bad happen to my car? I did notice the idle was really high (1900 RPM) but then it leveled off to about 1000 RPM. Motor seems fine. Thanks everyone!!

wow,,, oh and it could be a plugged cat. lol. holy smokes thats plugged. its running like that cause the exhaust is goin by so fast that the 02's are getting different readings. i wouldnt be surprised if your 02's, oil and plugs are not real happy.
