Default losing interest

im losin interest in fixing up my 94z. a shop told me yesterday it would cost about $2200 to install a cam and heads. wtf i didnt know it was that expensive. i was expecting to spend about $3000 on parts and installation. and buying parts seem to be alil more complicated than just ordering something that fits the motor. and i hear that putting those things on might be to much for the bottom end and i should rebuild which is another $2000 i been told. geesh i shoulda kept my charger

To upgrade your charger you would have been talking about the same kinda cash. Today's cars are complex and you cant just "bolt on" performance parts. If you cant do the work yourself then yes it will cost you a mint to hook up your car. Building any kind of performance engine will not be cheap even if you can do the work yourself. None of us here are in this hobby because it is cheap, we are in it for the love of our cars and cars in general. To make matters worse ANY time you mess with the internals of a FI engine you will need to have the computer's profiles matched to the equipment. This is done on a Dyno and with software that can analyse your current settings and also recommend new settings. This will adjust the fuel profile, timing and the fuel and advance curves so your engine will always run at 100%.

Your Charger would need the same kind of cash and dyno tuning as the Camaro does for changing cams, heads or anything else like that. Again this is for the love of cars not our wallets.

air intake, exhaust, headers, 342 gears and a tune. you will like the gain, then save for the build.

2+ Craby

I know what you mean when you say you are losing interest. Sometimes I don't want to look at the car. But I love the thing.

Try not to get frustrated. Its really easy to do.

Once you do some basic mods like Craby was talking about, your car will have a whole NEW attitude.

buy an older car, im working on a 79, parts are half the price and with a little know how, help, or few things to learn you can do ALL the work yourself, no labor costs...
just a thought, but i agree with everyone this hobby and pasion is not supposed to and never has been light on the pockets, or i guess it would be light on the pockets since theyll be empty

Yes I do. I'll get my new 380-400RWHP engine, then I'll drive it around for few days, then my rear end will blow up, then I'll be back where I am right now and depressed again.
