Default left car on

hey my husband is off in BUDS seal training and i left his Camaro on all night on accident, it ran out of gas and battery. is this bad for the car? roughly 7 hours it was on with only a quarter of a tank. its ran out of fuel about 2 other times on me. is this something to be worried about? i appreciate the help.

it COULD be...running your car that low on fuel is really hard on the fuel pump, you probably also killed the battery with no chance of bringing it back. battery isn't a huge deal, probably 80 bucks or so for a new one.

fuel pump is a different story...but lets hope we don't have to go into that. get a new battery, get some gas for it...see what happens

^^^x2 plus these cars have a weird fuel gage, the design makes it that way. my last camaro ran out of gas at 1/8th tank. my current one has been to e and not run out. they both dropped from 1/2 tank down really fast so when i get to 1/2 i treat it like i have 1/4 .

I doubt very much that you injured the battery. But drained it down, yes. A dead battery (from draining it like you did) doesn't mean a ruined battery. Just throw it on a charger, or get a jump start. Hopefully the cooling system works ok and the engine didn't overheat while idling...and idling...and idling. And if I were you, I wouldn't tell him what happened (although I'd wanna know)!!!

just fill it up, get a jump, let it idle for 5-10 min, NOT 7 hours, then try popin of the fuel filter and check that out, if it doesnt have a bunch of gunk from the bottom of the gas tank you should be ok

^ Why the fuel filter? The pick up sock in the tank sucks the fuel off the bottom, whether the tank is full or empty.

I know ive been told that when youre running out of gas the pump works harder and more sediment gets caught up in the filter, cloggy filter is no good, i ran out and i had to change mine, that only had 20,000 miles on it, and it was gross
