Default leaking head gasket

i have a 95z28. i just found out that i have a leaking head gasket that is a internal leak. my question is that how is it possible to have a leaking head gasket with out a overheating warning sign. the car still run strong, it still idle smooth. i took my car to this shop who i trust. i have had a blown head gasket before. i am not saying that they are lieing to me. if that is the case is there anyway i could buy some type of sealer or something to prolong the gasket. or how long could i drive the car before the car stops running.

well usually there will be signs of a leaking head gasket such as milky looking oil, im not sure if it can be sealed, i would not recommend using any of that stop leak stuff, cuz i believe corrosion can occur, depending on where the leak is. Otherwise if it still runs strong and you dont see a milky color in your oil, i dont see how they came up with a leaking head gasket, hopefully pete knows, cuz im not too sure.

i had the same thing goin on with mine.. the coolant was leaking out through the exhaust i guess. mine was overheating but I just put in a 160 degree thermostat and it fixed that problem. I replaced the head gasket and now it runs perfect.

I have a few questions before I can give a reasonable answer. Is the car losing coolant? What test was performed to identify a bad head gasket. When the engine is hot & running, do you see puffs of steam coming out of the oil filler?

Before tearing things apart, I would follow Joe's suggestions, and if all looked OK, just keep driving.

the car coolant in the radiator keep dropping below the filler neck. i not sure what test the shop perform to determine it was a blown head gasket. I will continue to drive the car. in the mean time i will save my money to eventually rebuild the motor. is it wise to replace the head gasket twice on the same car with over 170,000.

you can do a pressure test and watch for bubbles coming up from the radiator. if you see any, it's the head gasket.
