You guys sure do know a lot about these cars which im grateful for, cause I for sure dont yet, but am trying to learn...

So ive been doing some research and found these headers on texas speed website...just curious if there is any reason these are less expensive as the dynatechs and if there is any performance variance...if not I would probably go this route as I could buy the y-pipe from them as well and get a package deal, knowing that every would fit and match would be a great stress reliever...thanks for your thoughts, and if there is anything else I need to know??

those are what i have. they are a good budget header...have had fitment issues but i didn't experience any. if those are what you really want...look into www.herronperformance.com and i believe he sells them for like 500 with the y-pipe. if you'd like some help with shon(herron performance) just let me know. i've bought a few things from him and he's a nice guy

it seems the larger the "flange" thickness the more expensive the header...atleast with what I have found. The Pacesetter's have 3/8 inch flange while the Dynotech's have 1/4 inch flange...anything there to make a difference or for concern...i know I ask a lot of questions but I want to make a educated purchase and be pleased with the result.

not necassarily...cause if memory serves me correct...hookers have a 5/16" flange and are more expensive than pacesetter. keep in mind that with the dynatechs, you will have to buy the collectors which are like $110 bucks a piece i believe. make sure that no matter what brand you get, they are ceramic coated or stainless steel...painted finish will rust through in not too long. and if i were you being as you're in iowa, get the race headers with no emissions fittings. oh, after you put headers on, you will have to get your computer reprogrammed which is another $150 bucks

Wow the more I learn the more there is to everything...a couple points. What is the race style header without the emissions testing? What is its main difference compared to a non-race header? Are those pacesetter headers off of texas-speed "race" ones? That seems to be the avenue I will probably go, seeing as the collectors are included...I keep hearing the term "budget" which I correlate to low money, low quality?? Should I be concerned? Why the need to have the car reprogrammed, what is it programmed from originally to the new setting??

race headers dont have the egr or a.i.r. hook ups.If you have emmissions testing in your area, it will make you fail on the visual inspection.You will also need to get it tuned out of your computer or your SES light will come on, as well as get egr block off plates.A non race header will have the egr and a.i.r. hook ups and will be able to pass emmission testing.You will need to have the car reprogrammed because you are letting more air flow out,and the o2 sensors will be moved farther away from where they were at the factory and the o2 sensors will be reading differently.Also you might want to invest in some heated o2 sensors if you dont have them already as the o2 sensors will be moved farther away from the stock location and wont warm up like it would normally.

i guess ali decided to take over, haha. being as i'm in iowa as well, i know you won't be having any emissions inspections...thus the reason you want a race type header

I have yet to get my PCM reprogrammed, no SES light, no problems. As long as your car is post 1993 you have heated O2 sensors, so don't worry about that. As far as differences between the Pacesetter's and the Dynatechs. Technically a thicker flange is better, it will be more rigid and thus make a better seal. The Dynatechs are going to get you a little more torque because they have a tuned primary. The build quality on Dynatech's is known to be very high as well (quality of the welds, bends etc.) Whatever header you do decide to go for, make sure you get O2 extensions as well, the stock wires will not reach the O2 bungs in the collector.

yeah the only issue i had was the egr code kept setting.I did it without extensions, i believe i had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h the drivers side wire though,so id reccomend the extensions lol
