Talking Idle hunt and SES

I have a 1995 Z28 that I just recently put on a set of JBA shorty's and a magnaflow catback. Being that the O2 sensors are before the cat and I dont have to worry about emissions I left the cat off and made my own delete pipe. Since the installs the car has run strong. Except every so often the SES light comes on when I cold start the car. It goes off after a few minutes of driving, but when I come to a stoplight every now and then the rpms will drop to around 400 come back up, a little bit of hunting then SES light again and it returns to running just fine. After a few minutes the light goes off. It will repeat the process. I really cant figure it out. Being a 95 I am unable to get the codes read. If anyone knows a code reader that works for 95 camaros or maybe what may be my problem please let me know. I love the car and would love to feel confident enough to take it out and put some miles on it. Thanks all
