Default Iac issue/ oily throttle body

Throttle body is full of a black goo substance its pretty bad.... What could be causing this? Also i know you arent supposed to turn the iac, but should it be movable by hand? I cannot budge it...im wondering if its frozen. The car idles horribly.

The gunk on the TB is probably due to the PCV not working properly, and/or the oil not changed often enough. You can clean out the TB by spraying it with cleaner made for the purpose. Being that the IAC is stuck in place it is probably all gunked up like the TB, and not working. It would be a good idea to replace it.

the iac is tightened with wrench/socket and will take the same to remove. like pete says pick up a new iac and set it acording to number 47 on the list here 4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids
pull the hose on the passenger side of the tb, it goes to the passenger side valve cover. see if it looks like the oil/gunk is coming from that hose. if it is then pvc (again like pete says) is probly failing.

On the throttle body, there is an air passage right in front of the throttle blade that is your IAC circuit, which leads to your IAC motor. If that passage is plugged with gunk as well, your engine will idle like crap, even if your IAC is good. I would give everything a good cleaning before possibly wasting your money on a new IAC that might not be bad.

OK thanks guys. I kinda figured it was the pcv valve... Ive actually got the motor out spun the number 8 bearing. So im kinda killing time on other known issues while i wait for the machine shop to finish my crank. Hopefully have it all back together by next week. I did a ohm test on the iac and it passed i suppose it could still be frozen. On the plus side i got a actron 9190 for christmas i can finally get my codes my self... I should be able to use this scanner once its together to see whats going on. Also the car had a code 34 stored. So maybe i have a bad map also.

I suggest you have the rod with the spun bearing checked out by the machine shop, as there is a good chance that the big end stretched and distorted when the beraing broke. If the rod is damaged the new bearing won't last long.
