i want my opti gone, if you have done ltcc or anything please help
well, id like to get ride of it. 94 z28 (a4), in the process of converting to ls1 the following will be done, if not already done. 373s(or lower),2800 stall, lt headers, glasspacks to a 45 deg bend out the side, cai, 58mm tb and intake, msd ignition.and i will be doing a pcm4less tune after gears and intake is put on
right now i have a msd opti, its throwing codes (after only 3 mnths) and id like to get rid of the opti completely. i cant decide if a conversion will be necessary, or if i should just go with a gm opti. most likely i wont be doing anymore performace upgrades after what i typed is all done.
so at efi connect theres a kit for around 2g, it seems pretty legit, and i love the way it looks. but how about the bailey ltcc?
so im lost, haha, im in military so im prob just going to leave it with the shop for 3mnths and have them take there time.
opinions, tips, and advise will be greatly appreciated.
im also on the hunt for a 58mm tb, 373s, or 342s, and a good torque converter, or a lt conversion kit as a whole.
thankyou

why toss away good money for such a short period of time?
Oh, and MSD's are no better with respect to failure rate. Yes, you paid more for a name.
Interesting that factory units last 80k-120k miles or more yet when it's time to replace the opti, we all get advice that only an MSD is the unit to use
A few questions for ya? Are you swapping a LS1 as this "in the process of converting to ls1" suggest? If so, then why fix the LT1 that's in it? If not, then the efi connect conversion will totally get rid of your need for the opti on the LT1, but is expensive and for the money they want, you could get a complete used LS1. You can piece their kit from various places and lower the cost if you wanted to. The bailey LTCC conversion is more practical IMO as you can get most the parts cheap and is a pretty straight forward conversion. But it still uses the optical part of the opti., which not using the opti for charge will lengthen it's life.
msd opti has a 1 yr warrenty, two at sumitt. you should be able to get it replaced. one thing, a msd opti is not as friendly to the aftermartet ignitons that use the opti reader only.
I view that like buying a new desk for your office when you are going to retire in 3 months.

Anyone that claims otherwise doesn't actually have experience selling optisparks or replacing them. Mitsubishi makes the best sensor and no one can knock it off, not even AC Delco.
I don't find that to be true at all. The forums are all in agreement for the most part that Delco offers the best unit. We have a good rep for value based replacements.

I have personally, yes personally seen MSD opti's go bad within months and I have also had my own Delco optis go bad quickly. Heck, one was an OBF (out of box failure) and another, I should have opened the unit and checked the rotor.
I've been consistent in my statements about QA (quality assurance) and how it has diminished and not just on optisparks. To lead someone to believe that buying an MSD is the only way to be assured a good repair is utter nonsense. The optis that you source may last just as long. Sadly, it really has come down to a crapshoot due to QA.
