Default I broke my steering wheel!!!

My Husband broke my steering wheel getting in and out of the car(big guy).
Its a 93 z28 auto cai/hooker cat back.
Well we found a steering with an air bag from a junkyard for 100 bucks, Here is the catch its the whole friggin steering column that we need to buy.
Anyway, does it take a rocket scientist to install a new wheel and airbag?
Our airbag is still good but in our broken wheel, would it be better for us to hit ebay for a steering wheel without a airbag for 50 bucks and have our airbag put into it,,,,ughhh Idk any help or opinions is greatly appreciated. We dont mind having to bring it to someone to do the install of the new wheel, we just need to know what were getting into, maybe there is someone with a similar problem.
And just to be more clear, what I mean by "broke" is , the wheel itself had broke, therefore when my hand is on the wheel its flimsy, sucks. This is my first post so thanks in advance!

Wow,never head of a steering wheel breaking.
Guess I better be careful with mine,I'm a big guy and drive a '93Z28.
Maybe you can find a car parting out on craigslist or in the local papers and get a wheel cheap.

The steering wheel was made in Mexico! I removed it and installed a Grant. Maybe switch to a old style wood wheel? Or find a 2010 one?

long as your blinkers, cruise, tilt, wipers etc all work I would try to just replace the wheel and air bag.would have to check my book for instructions but shouldnt be that hard.if you change the whole column you will have to have the key to the new column and hope the vats resistor match your computer.think there is a link at top of this or 4th gen section with a download to the service manual.i have one but might be alot of typing.long story short you'd be better off to change the wheel and bag.

WoW Thanks for the quick replies this board is great already, anyway, my husband wants me to have an airbag (because my car beats his si lol) so an aftermarket wheel is kinda out of the question. My question was more based on replacing the factory wheel, and what were getting into cost wise. We did find one with airbag for 1 hundred wich we can afford, its having someone or us, install it,,,thank you all!
