I'm talking about the tires he said for the rears. 315/50-18 that's a huge sidewall on a bigger rim. 5 inches bigger diameter of the tire. which won't fit in the wheel well by a long shot.
Oh ok. Misunderstanding. Yeah he's gonna have to tub it

From what I was told they should fit... Will they not? I want some good wide tires in the back but I don't want them to be little rubber bands. I want them to have a good amount of meat on them. What would be a good size for that wheel size(17/9.5front and 18/10.5rear)?

please pay attention to his post. He said tire diameter, not wheel diameter.

some also call it tire height

to run 315 x 18s in the rear then you need to go to around a 30 aspect ration, not a 50.

an aspect ratio of 30 with 315 x 18's keeps you around 25 1/2 inches but going to a 50 series and you are 5 inches greater tire diameter

the poster will also be paying a pretty penny for tires but needs to speak with a tire pro rather than running off ***** nilly and getting any old size because it sounds cool
Ok, I don't know everything about tires sizes, but from what I was told that size is "supposed" to fit. I'm not going to say it will because I don't know for sure. But I wasn't running off "***** nilly" as you put it. From what I was told that should fit, but hey, I came here to learn and since you guys usually know more than me, please educate me so that I won't make this mistake again.

please pay attention to the "aspect ratio"

you posted 315mm diameter, on an 18 inch rim, with a 50% aspect ratio aka 50 series thus your tire height would increase by 5 inches vs the 25'ish if you ran a 30 aspect ratio on 315's

I don't know who "told you this" but I would not listen to them

yes, 315's can fit in the rear for width, your problem is the aspect ration you mentioned

and FWIW, 275's are a good compromise being almost 11 inches wide and still affordable

I would be really cautious with getting 315s, I have 295s and there's about a half inch clearance from one certain spot in the rear wheel well.
but like TIG said, the first numer "315" is the tire width in millimeters, the second number "50" is the aspect ratio, that mean that width of the sidewall of the tire is 50% of the tire width (315). so that would be 157.5 mm or, about 6.2 inches. then you have to add multiply that by 2 because the sidewall goes all the way around the wheel then add the 18 in rim diameter, to get overall wheel diameter. which is about 30.4 which is 5 inches bigger than stock which will not fit in the wheel well. when you're trying to find good tire sizes go to a site like this. http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
where you can compare tire sizes you're thinking about to your stock tire size. I have 295/35-18 in the back and it looks great, I don't think the side wall is too skinny. my sig pic probably isn't showing up because I'm on my phone but if you look around you can see my pic of my staggered 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 Z06 replicas, and how the tires look.

im seeing that 295 is the max for 18in tires and 315 is max for 17s. im using 17in and have found info that to fit on the backside 7.75 is the max backspacing for the 11 in rims on a 4th gen. what im tring to do is confirm this before having the wheels built.

Ok, so a 315/30 is not the same width as a 315/50? Is that what your saying?

I have 275s on it right now and they are not wide enough for my personal preference. I'll upload a pic later of about how wide I want them to look. Or you can see the pic here. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02-general-41/can-anyone-tell-me-what-kind-wheels-these-57496/ It's at the top at the beginning of the thread. That's pretty much what I want them to look like. Tire wise.

They are the same width, but the sidewall is different. This is a bad example, but just say your factory sidewall is like loprofile tires, while the 50 is like a drag slick. It's bigger and won't fit
