Default How much is too much?

Ok guys so, here it is. I have a 95 Z28. I purchased the car for 4,000 back in '07. Since then I threw 6349.13 back into it. That not including my sound system which was around 4,000 also. That 6,300 included:

4L60E (1,600)
10 Bolt Main differential from a Trans Am (300)
Flowmaster 80 Series Cross Flow + Tips (404.17)
C5 Rims (Traded for)
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A 285/40/18-Rear 245/40/17-Front (850.11), New Drivers Fender and Front Bumper (138.88)
Hardwood Hood (677.31)
New paint and body work (1790).

Is another 13,000 too much to drop into it? This will include:

396/520hp LT1 long block 7999

LT1 ported Intake 350
Intake gaskets 35
SS Intake Bolts 35
30 lb injectors 375
58mm Throttle Body 385
Crank hub and damper 240

where is the long block from? 30# injectors probably won't be big enough for that engine. and none of us can tell you if its too much money...we don't know your financial situation and we don't know how much you like the car. so taht's totally your call

The Long block is coming from Golen's. I talked to Chad Golen, the owner, that the set up that he uses personally. On your second point, whammer, The car is pretty much my baby, and I have a very sound financial situation. Just my friend tell me that dropping 13k in a 15 year old car is crazy. They want me to drop it on some land or stocks. Something that will produce more long term.

Whammer is right, those 30# injectors won't be big enough, especially if you you plan on using a bigger cam. Also, just to let you know, I personally bought one of those $500 MSD Pro Billet opti spark distributors........GARBAGE! It worked for about 2 weeks, I took it off, sent it back to MSD, they fixed it, I put it back on, worked for 3 weeks. I'm running a coil pack conversion from Bailey's Engineering. It only uses the opti for cam position now, takes the fire out of it. It uses stock coils from an LS1. Best investment EVER for an LT1. The box and the harness were $300 and I bought a whole set of the coil packs off of Ebay for like $80 still mounted on the plates with the pigtails. Bam, $380 and never another opti issue ever. It's all plug and play, too. Google it man, it's awesome. "Bailey Engineering LTCC conversion". I'm telling you guys, it's the best thing you'll ever do for your LT1.

k...i'd say you'd be spending to much buying the engine from golen to be honest. i've done some research on them and i've heard some bad stories. if i were you, i'd find a machine shop you trust around you and talk to them about it. you should be able to build a whole engine for 6 grand or so if you want it done right. if you want help being pointed in the right direction for parts, we can help you there too. i just think that price for the longblock is pretty high

Doing stuff like this is a hobby. If you don't mind dropping a lot of money in the car and never getting anywhere near that back out of it (if you ever sell the car) then go ahead.
