how do you take off the crankshaft pully on the lt-1 camaro wont come off with puller we rented but it might be the wrong one.

The problem is that the front pulley is different than most, and the crankshaft nose does not go all the way through the pulley. You can use a regular puller but you have to improvise. Otherwise you will dama

Take the bolt from the nose of the crank and buy another one with the same thread but about 2" to 3" longer.
Best if you can find a hardened bolt.

Screw the new bolt into the nose of the crank till it bottoms out. The head of the bolt should be sticking out past the base of the pulley. You may want to grind down the threads except for a about 3/4" at the beginning of the bolt to allow the pulley to slide out easier.

Use your puller making the screw end of the puller push against your new bolt. The pulley will come out till it hits the head of the bolt. If it is not out all the way back the bolt out and pull some more.

Part 2.

If you just want to remove the optispark you do not have to remove the whole pulley. Just remove the 3 bolts attaching the vibration damper to the hub and you may be able to tap it loose, if not use a small puller that grabs on the inside of the damper to avoid pulling the ring off. Mark off how the damper sat on the hub so it can go back in the same spot.
