Default help

my 96z i misfiring. i have had the computer scanned and they cant figure out where the misfires are coming from. they suggested that it might be a burnt gasket on the cylinder head. you think it might?
and how should i go about figure out whats wrong without mechanics screwing me on fixing little pointless stuff?

Take your wires off one by one and check them out for burn spots, cracks, or tears. Then take out your plugs and do the same. More than likely it'll be something simple. As far as mechanics go, LEARN ABOUT YOUR CAR! Seriously try and learn as much as you can about it, then you'll know when something doesn't sound right. Everytime someone asks me about a problem they're having I ask, have you read the manual, have you bought the Haynes or Chiltons manual. Those books are awesome, a complete teardown and rebuild of your car, plus it'll have little tidbits of info specific to your car. They rock!! Seriously though these forums are great ways to get help.
