heater question
i have no heater in my camaro air blows but its just a fan er somthin...
i have papers that say that the heater hoses are cracking badly. these papers that say that, are kinda old so i dont know if that might have been fixed already er not. im not leakin any coolant that i can tell so that would kinda eliminate the whole cracking badly thing wouldnt it? i am going to check the core before i take the hoses off is there any thing i should do before i go and pull the core and is there any tips or help i can get on doing that...all information given is welcome thank you kyle |
RE: heater question
From a cold engine, does your engine temp rise at a steady rate and stay within the normal operating temp? If not, look at your thermostat first.

RE: heater question
If the engine is properly warmed up and there is no heat, check the temperature of the coolant hoses going to the heater core, they should be at the same temperature as the large radiator hoses. If not there is no coolant flowing to the heater. There are several reasons:
1)The heater core is clogged, try to flush it out by forcing water through it with a garden hose. 2)The heater core is bypassed, as 02StangGT, mentioned. Check the hose/pipes from the heater: top hose goes to the engine, the bottom hose to the water pump,You may find them disconnected at the engine end, and a bypass hose going from the heater fitting on the engine to the heater fitting on the water pump. 3) Clogged flow restrict or. If the heater hoses appear to be properly connected, disconnect both ends of each hose and force water through them with a garden hose. One of the hoses may have a flow restrict or that can get gunked up and prevent water from flowing to the heater. |
