Make sure it looks clean and taken care of,AVERAGE mileage on a 10 year old car is 125,000. As far as aftermarket parts, thats up to you, what are you wanting to do with this car? (i.e. everyday driving, street/strip, strickly race)

I'd try to stay away from a car that already has modifications on it, more than likely that means it's had the hell beat out of it on a regular basis, not always true, but something to be aware of. Your best bet will be a car that was adult owned and unmodified, more than likely that means it'll be taken car of better(remeber, these are all assumptions, but hey, you have to make some when getting a car). Make sure the car is kept clean inside and out, check the door jams and the areas that sit under the hatch for cleanliness, if they are clean, more than likely the owner took good care of the car. Drive the car and make sure everything runs as it should, this means that you should drive it no less than 15 minutes so the car can get warmed up. Make sure it has good oil pressure when warm, battery voltage is good etc.

With bolt ons and nos, you could get the numbers you want without a problem
