Fuel injectors

I decided to pull my injectors out today, just to look at the part number, I noticed that 3 on one side already had crusty carbon built up on them. So then I laid some cardboard under both sides and primed them up, no leaks...that I saw. But whats with the build up? Im still digging into why it runs rich...very rich in open loop, but not so much in closed.
Now with that said, the injectors with build up on them, I found my plug wires are crispy and cracking...... Any thoughts?

hmm, well carbon buildup on the injectors is normal at high mileage. getting them professionally cleaned is def something to look into and ur plug wires should be replaced along with the plugs. then ur rich condition might go away

it could be that ur plugs and wires arent burning all the fuel at part throttle.

"Carbon" build up is a byproduct of combustion. But the injectors aren't in the combustion chamber, so it can't be that. So, what are you really seeing on the injectors? Is it a dark orange-ish looking build up? That would be varnish, and that's what gums up/clogs injectors. Using a cheap brand of gas can be one reason for a varnish build up.

Oh ok. but its black build up. i run 92 in the car with octane boost since my engine is a 12 to 1 compression.

Since you're that far with the injectors, and they're that bad, I'd physically clean them all. I've soaked badly clogged ones in carb cleaner in the past, and it got them clean as a whistle. You could go one step further, and run some cleaner through each injector while cycling them. There are some procedures on youtube showing how, in case you don't know.

Oh yeah. I sure will. I actually have the little built to cycle em. Ive cleaned some a while back.
