Front timing cover and opti
can't find the guy I got my last opti from. it was reasonable price too. 160 bucks if memory serves. he rebuilds them and uses high quality optics. cheap china junk use junk optics with hit and miss quality
dang thats pretty good. The opti itself was only $300 for me with lifetime warranty which doesn't seem too bad. I just got it back and it's quite a bit more peppey and responsive, however they wanted me to bring it back in a week to check for an oil leak. I noticed a nice spot from sitting overnight so I already dropped it back off. They also had to replace the throttle position sensor cause they said it was hunting at idle. It started doing it to me on the way back in with the new sensor. When it rains it pours! Lol 2020, 0/10 would not recommend.
If it's leaking oil from the water pump shaft seal, then they likely installed the seal incorrectly. Can happen to those not familiar with the LT1.
they said it was from an O ring by the timing cover, they didn't mention the water pump
So here's what I've run into now, looking for advice. This is the short of it. In April I had the intake manifold gasket and seal replaced. The shop that has the car now swore up and down the only thing leaking was the timing cover. There was only one spot leaking on the ground clearly from the riming cover. The shop it's in now replaced the timing cover seal and the crank seal as well as the opti and water pump, and also the oil pan seal. Now they're telling me the intake seems to be leaking pretty significantly. I don't see how that just happens out of nowhere. Is there anything they would have done with the work mentioned that would cause the intake to leak? The guy i talked to said the tech said lower intake, whatever that is.... he's going to check and let me know for sure but I'm about to give them an ear full. Pnly timing xover was leaking and now the intake is leaking seemingly out of nowhere?
