Default Engine Rebuilt!!!

Hey everyone,
Well here's the story bought a 1997 Chevy Camaro Z28 with about 138,000 miles one it. The Dealer said it was rebuilt so i asked him to show me some papers and no papers, so I dropped the price cuz of that! I took the car home greatest car EVER! next month breaks down and didnt know what happened to it. So now I'm taking the engine out and starting from the block and making my way up. Wanna get new things for the car as in headers and stuff like that any recomendation and any Don'ts that i should know about, while doing this project? i have a K&N airfilter plus a New inlet elbow new spark plug wireset plus spark pulgs, battery, positive negative battery wiring, ummm some more but not coming to mind.
Thanks to all who reply
Looking to hear good comments thanks again!!

stock up on beer and bandaids.welcome.if you go to the 4th gen section the third sticky down is a parts manual for the 93-02 4th gen.might come in helpfull at sometime.i would save a lil money and buy a scanner.you will need it at some point.i think that should be a part of basic modding lol

Increasing cubes is the number one way to increase horsepower. That's one bad car, don't drink and drive it!

so your taking the engine out and u dont know whats wrong with it? if you have it in your plans i can understand if not have it scanned for trouble codes first. could just need a new opti. anyways check out elliotts portworks site get the heads and intake done, cam, headers and a good exhaust. do u have the k&n filter or the cold air intake sytem? if just the filter ull want to get the cai.

that's actually rather wrong...the top end is what makes the power(heads/cam)...the bottom end just decides where it makes the power and how much it can hold. granted, assuming the top end is the same, more cubes on the bottom end will make more power than stock cubes.

i guess i don't see the point of ripping the motor out when you don't know whats wrong with it. but if you plan on swapping motors anyway then i'm all for it...however, if an accessory such as opti or starter is shot and you plan on using them on the new motor, then it really doesn't matter what motor you put in

that explains a few things. lol. so most likely should tear this motor down to see if its salvagable or what can be reused. then go from there.
