Default engine noise...pulleys?

this is pretty hard to explain but ever since i changed my opti and waterpump it seems like you can hear the motor running more, its like you can hear the pulleys turning or something, like i said hard to explain but the engine is loud, and its not an exhaust sound or a hissing sound its a steady sound that honestly sounds like one of the pulleys or waterpump maybe is turning loudly. anyone have any input? thanks

unhook your belt and see if it stops.

if it does quit with the belt off theres only a few things it could be. alt, belt tensioner, a/c or power steering. if this were a contest i would guess the tensioner. did u get the balancer on all the way.

Squeaking pulley is fairly common. Mine squeaked before it shredded itself. You could always get one of those mechanics' stethoscopes and listen to the alternator/water pump or tensioner bolt (careful not to get caught in the belt!)

did u torque it to 75 ft lbs? sometimes u can get it in almost all the way and ill stay and look like its bottomed out but its not. that will cause the belt to not be lined up right and can do weird stuff. did u try it without the belt?
