Engine bogging down nearly to point of dying.

I was driving down the hwy when my engine started to bump pretty hard. The check engine light came on and i had a complete loss of power. I had to downshift and it helped a little, but I still had no power at all. By the time i putted all the way home I litterally had barley enough power to crawl into the drive way. It still starts up fine and the oil pressure is reading normal. So if it was something internally in the engine I figured that the oil pressure would have dropped. It must have to do with fuel delievery. I would love it if someone could tell me what was going on.

Many times when an engine starts running bad for no apperent reason it usually because of an electrical problem. Sometimes the battery breaks down, or the alternator goes bad, or one of the many electrical components goes bad. Check the battery voltage and make sure the alternator is working. The MIL went on , so check for DTCs (trouble codes). Check the fuel pressure. Let us know what you find.

Well I doubt its he battery because I just started it and it ran, it just didnt idle at 1 like it was before the incident. I check the codes and what I got was

16. opti spark low resolution not found
32. egr recirulation
36. optispark high resolution signal faulty
41. ignition control circut open
42. ignition control circut shot or grounded
51. eeprom program error
61. a/c system performance

As far as I know all of these arnt really related to the problems I am having. Please help. I need to get this figured out im carless until then.

sounds like an opti what yr and model?

Too many codes at once check the "B" connector (the Black one on the PCM) look for loose wires, loose connector, dirty pins.
If OK, then it could be the Opti or Ignition Control Module. Check all the wiring and connectors between the two, if OK, try the ignition module first, much cheaper than the opti and you can get it tested at most auto parts chains. If the module is OK, then you may have to bite the big one for a new opti and water pump.

check for water in the ecu while your at it.
