Default electric water pump question

Summit racing shows several brands of electric waterpump for a SBC. Which would be the "best buy" choice for my 94 LT? Thanks

I would use an electric water pump only as a last resort for tight clearance issues in a non-conventional engine swap, or may consider it on a race only car.A belt driven water pump is more than sufficient, and h.p. differences (if that's what you're after) aren't going to be noticeable in a street car. Keep in mind that it's an electric motor. Electric motors don't last forever, especially when being run constantly. And, the pump motor will only die on you while you're using it.....away from home. Reliability is the real issue. If a belt driven pump goes bad (starts to leak), usually you are still able to limp home. A bad electric pump leaves you on the side of the road. Personally, I would scrap that idea.

Ok then, I'll stick with the stocker style. I got the idea from a tech from summitracing who recommended it. He stated that all LT1s can benefit from one. I guess he thought it wasfor full race application. Thanks

i know a couple people that have done the electric water pump on their car , one of them has the CSR and the other has the Summit Brand. they are the same pump with a different name on the case. both of them said you could feel a slight difference in performance. they both did the electric pump so they could run the fans and pump between rounds at the track to help cool the engine down. they also both say the engine runs cooler all around. when (yes when not if) my pump starts leaking , i am going to install an electric pump on mine.
