EGR and AIR delete

Im installing headers on my 96 Z28 and I want to delete the egr and air while Im at it. Im totally new to the LT1 engine so I would really appreciate it if I could get some advice on what is really the best way to do this. Anything helpful or even some pics would be great.

First off, welcome to the forums!!!

In order to delete the EGR and AIR, you need to remove the components, block off any ports, then get the components tuned out of your ECM. Since you have an 96, its OBDII. I recommend you send your computer to Solomon. Best LT1 tuner around. Have him tune out the stuff and tune the car for octane, headers and any other modifications you have done. You can find all of the details here:

LT1 PCM Tuning - Welcome!

While you're at it, get rear O2 sensor simulators.

Good luck and kill Rustanks!!!

He can tune out the rear o2 sensors.

with Solomon you don't send out your ECM. You simply fill out an initial form, you can either buy or rent a cable, he then emails an initial tune based upon what you wrote including deleting egr. Then, you datalog the car, send the capture file to him and he will modify the tune to your car.

good job with no egr, it makes the header install so much easier and dont' forget the Percy's header gaskets

Do you by any chance have a part number for the percy gaskets? I looked on summit and I couldn't find them anywhere. As far as I can tell theres only two ports to block when removing the egr. As far as the air pump goes you just unbolt it right and toss it right.

theres 2 ports on the back of the intake that need to be blocked but you can leave the egr bolted and unhooked to fill one the other i took a piece of steel (came from an I beam about 3/16" thick but really any metal thicker than say an eight of an inch will work) cut it to size drilled the holes for the bolts and used a stock gasket to seal it up (this will save you the money of buying blockoff plates)

heres the gaskets

AutoZone has the Percy's header gasket set. There are 2 different ones for LT1's , you want the dead soft gaskets.
