I have a 93 Z-28 (stock as far as I know) and just recently got it back on the road after sitting for some time.

The only trouble code I get is DTC 26. It is set after the Air pump fuse blows. I have replaced the fuse twice now, but it blows soon after the engine starts.

The shop manual procedure wants you to use a TECH 1 diagnostic tool (which I don't have).

Has anyone fixed this code before without using a TECH 1 device?

Any suggestions as what to look at first?

 

Pull the electrical plug on the pump. If the fuse now holds, the pump is bad, and has to be replaced. If the fuse blows when the pump is disconnected, then there a wiring problem.

 

i had the same problem and had to replace the pump. took it out and hooked it to 12 volts and it wouldnt work. opened it up and it had water in it. picked up a new one on ebay.

 

Keeping the air pump functioning isn't an absolute necessity. And once the engine is warmed up, it doesn't get used.
