Ugh. I was hopeing I wouldn't have to do that. I wast sure if it would be able to come out with out all that. But I have been wanting to do something to the car anyways. So here it is I guess.

 

I started looking at new pumps. Is there I good one that y'all would recommend. I found them in prices from 35-110$.

 

Melling is what im using. 35.00 bucks if i recall.

 

i used a gm performance oil pump NAL-12555884. i have a regular one thats never been used. where you at?

 

71291, and regular as in stock? i was looking at getting a higher volume one. or would it not even be worth it?

 

Just make sure it want suck the oil pan dry...

 

i did mine in about 5 hours. i droped the exhaust. pulled the bolts from the motor mounts raised the motor as far as i could get it. removed the starter and the dip stick tube. also dont forget to take the low oil sensor out. you also have to position the crank just right for the pan to clear i did not have to touch the auto tranny and im sure there is a few other little things that im forgeting but it was pretty stright foward and not to hard to figure out. i also used a mellings pump. my oil pressure was at the 1/4 mark at idle before and the 1/2 mark under a load and did gain about 10 psi at both ends after i change the pump. the guy i bought the car from had the motor changed at like 50,000. who ever did the swap did not press the p/u in all the way it looked like it went in crooked and stopped half way and he just left it like that. they make a tool to press the pick up in witch made it easy to get it in. the new one was a very tight fit and i dont think it would of fell out but i did throw a take on it just in case. its really not that hard if you have some aoutomotive know how. if you google (how to drop the oil pan on a camaro) there are few write ups with step by step instructions that i found very helpful

 

well i just ordered my pump, i went with a melling m155. i decided that i dont really need a high volume one, and i read that they were taller and i wasnt sure about it fitting in a stock pan. thanks for your imputs and help.
