Any particular reason that you're wanting to pull the A.I.R pump? You save a couple pounds of weight, but that's about it. The pump only runs for a short time at startup and it's an electric motor, so it doesn't take any power unless it's on. The car should throw codes when you remove it as well.

o really some guy just told me it would free up a couple of ponies but he didnt say anything about throwing a code but if i got it tuned ( cause i have the motor out doin a rebuild) could i tell them to disable that code so it wont pop up

cant say it gave me more hp r6. just less weight and congestion was my reasoning. abs is going next as well the battery to the rear. each to his own of coarse....

You're not going to gain any h.p. by disconnecting the AIR pump. Disconnecting it would be strictly for cosmetic reasons or to free up some space. If you disconnect the hoses, nothing will happen. If you unplug the electrical connection to the pump, your SES light will go on.

is there any way to bypass it so it wont come on?

Camaro 69 Oct 20, 2009 09:43 PM

I've already tested mine to see what happens. You can unplug it, it won't do any harm. But you would have to live with having the SES light on all the time, plus the radiator fan will turn on as a default. To get rid of it totally, you would need to get it tuned out of your computer. Unless somebody knows of an electrical bypass to fool the computer. I'd be interested in that.
