Default Removing engine, help?

Hello, im a big camaro fan, own a 92 rs swaped the old 305 for a new 350, and i had a 97 z28 at the same time, but wrecked the z28 going 140mph, so now i have the camaro and a 97 T/A, i have to replace the engine in the T/A,but i cant pull it out, the engine is loose all cables disconnected removed the driver side motor mount pieces, pulled the screws off of the headers, and the screws to the transmission, the engine does not seem to be cought up on anything i can see, i got the engine about 1" apart from the transmission but it wont go any further, is there any special procedure i should follow to pull the engine from the top????? Thank you. I dont know if it matters but just in case it does, its a manual trany. thanks.

U may have to lower the tranny mount and pull the tranny back off the engine. The engine will also need to rotate 90 degrees sideways to come out the top. Search the forum. There are a couple people posted pics of the removal in process

gotta get the exhaust manifolds out, im pretty sure the intake also needs to come off. then youll need to break/pop the trany lose from the motor while lifting a little on the motor so it doesnt drop and hurt something or body. took mine out the bottom, just couldnt see doing it though the top. there are a couple threads on here with some pictures and problems encountered taking out the top.

Sounds like you need to pull the clutch fork out... then the transmission will come away from the block, ive done it maybe 12 times, contact me if you need any further info.

I have taken 2 3.8's out the bottom and I didn't think it was that hard but like craby, I didn't try taking it out the top

Faster for me to pull out the top...I only pull out the bottom if I am also replacing some suspension components.

Ok, its out, we were at the point of starting the process of taking it out the bottom but since we had a lot of room at the top and at the time it seemed easier, came out thru the top, heres what we did, coulnt separete engine from transmisson, couldnt figure out how to remove clutch fork, so we lowered the transmission and didnt have much room to turn the engine 90 degrees so we tried turning the transmission 90 degrees then tried separating them again, no luck, so we screwed the transmission back to the engine and pulled the engine out the top with transmission attached, woohooo!!!
