cooling fan problem

I've been trying to diagnose my cooling problem for months. I put a new coolant temp sensor in, and still no luck. The fans won't work at all. Also tried relays and fuses. When I unplug the cts the fans run, but they run all the time. I heard someone talking about a auto trans fluid temp sensor and that the ground for the cts runs to that. Has anyone heard of an atf temp sensor? Could this be my problem? Thanks.

The fans come on at 226 for low speed and 235 for high speed. Your car should bounce between 230 and 210 while sitting at idle. There are two coolant temp senders; One is in the water pump and relays info to the PCM and the other is in the head and only controls the engine temperature gauge. If you unplug the WP temp sender or run the A/C (assuming your A/C works and hasn't been disabled by the low pressure cutoff switch) then the fans will run all the time. The fact that your fans run when you unplug the WP sender says to me that your fuses and fan motors are good. How hot does your car get? It's not overheating until it gets to the red zone.

I ran it up to the red and the fans never kicked on.

The fans did run when you unplugged the pigtail for the WP sensor so that rules out the fuses, motors, and power. Sounds like the WP sensor is faulty or maybe even the PCM is bad, but that's highly unlikely. Pull the temp sensor and test it with a multimeter at room temp.

Ok, I have a phantom car. I posted another thread about the car not starting. I fixed that, plugged the ECT back in. Now everything is working perfect. Glad its fixed but I'm stumped on the problem to begin with. Mabey a loose/pinched wire. Who knows... Thanks for all the helpful advice guys!
