coil?
i took a 93 Z for a test drive the other day and it had a fairly noticeable miss at low rpms. the seller said he had replaced the plugs, wires, cap/rotor, and distributor. my question is how often do you hear of the coil or coil wire going bad? it is an electrical problem and thats all thats left i think. is there more or what should i try? i dont want to throw a bunch of parts at it and waste money.. thanks
Look at the coil and ignition module, including connectors. Stuff happens after 13 years. I would also recheck the plugs and wires & make sure they are OK. You colud also have a bad injector or some serious mechanical damage. Is the check engine lit?
no the check engine light isnt on.. they did a compression test on it to make sure it wasnt a bent valve or something and that was fine with 160 or so p.s.i.... and im pretty sure its not the wires or plugs with them only having a couple hundred miles on them now... butthat could still be i guess.. i thought he said he just put an ACDelco ignition module on too... i could be wrong though... it also doesnt like to start right away.. i mean when you turn the key it clicks. ill hold it for literally 10-15 seconds then it will turn over. could this be dirty terminals? bad starter? anyideas areappreciated thanks
edit: also when the car gets wet it runs VERY poorly
