Code 41?

Code 41?
i had code 41 pop up on my car along with the egr failure code. code 41 is an something to do with open in the timing set up. i put a new cap and rotor on and a new opti harness. Now the thing is the car runs fine and has no misses. so why would it be throwing that code?

DTC 41 is set when the PCM does not see the ignition module. When the PCM wants to trigger the ignition coil it sends a 5 Volt pulse to the ignition module, if the circuit is OK the ignition module puts a load on 5 Volt pulse and causes the voltage to drop to something less than 4.6 volts. If the PCM sees the voltage staying high it will disable the fuel injectors to prevent flooding, as there would be no spark possible.
If the car is running OK at this time, then it was just a transient event, and there is no need to worry about it. Clear the code and see if it comes back. If the code keeps coming back, there is a possible intermittent problem between the PCM and the ICM, or either the ICM or PCM are starting to break down.

well i cleared the codes. i put a little over 200 miles on it after doing that and neither the egr failure code nor the code 41 came back on. Im going to keep an eye on it. My friend thinks its just because it sat for 4 months and pretty much moved it in and out of the garage was the only real run time it got in the last 6 weeks. im a little skeptical but its been supper wet here will see what happens.
