Clutch Pedal

Clutch Pedal
I recently got a 1994 Camaro Z28 with~96,000 miles on it,that had a 1999 LT1 motor putin it at 60,000 miles, the previous owner negelected to check the oil when the light came on bad for them, good for me lol. Anyways, this is the first manual I've ever driven, it seems like 90% of the friction pointis in 10% of the pedal, if that makes sense. My Dad has driven manuals before and he said this clutch definatley has a small grab spot, you can feel it grabbing very gradually, but then it gets toa point and grabs very quickly. Is this normal, or can something be adjusted to change the freeplay?

RE: Clutch Pedal
it probably just grabs up top. the "speed" at which is grabs is dependant on your style and the plate pressure. It can feel a little odd if the clutch grabs way up at the top of the pedal travel but this isnt anything to worry about
+1, no lt1 in 99

RE: Clutch Pedal
Thanks for the replies, and your right it does grab towars the top but now after practice I don't even notice, it does start grabbing fairly early I just needed a better feel for the clutch. Also, the engine was a '94 spec LT1 replaced in '99.

RE: Clutch Pedal
I have an 00 and it's the same way. the first 10% of the pedal is all that is really used... occasionally mine sticks to the floor though, (usuallty after I get on it with a fast shift) anyone else expierienced this? I've talked to a few of the 'maro guys around here and they've said theirs does the same..

RE: Clutch Pedal
A little update, I just replaced the fuel filter, it looked like it was the original from '94, it is 100% better, I think the engine was just starving for fuel, it doesn't jerk when I start any more, and I can let the clutch up way faster than before, also doesn't jerk when I floor it, and the tires chirp in third when rolling at 20 mph
