Summit has an Accel opti for $260. Never used one though, so can't vouch for their reliability. A GM performance unit is about $100 bux more than that.
I was writing as you posted the Summit link.

i just seen that. lol. sorry. op do u have a crank sensor? if i remember right the 96 has two styles of opti one has the crank sensor in the opti and one has it on the crank. should be able to see the crank sensor from under the car if its there.

Back in the dance, I'm all rested! The 1994.5-97 opti is the same. In 96 a separate crank sensor was added in the timing chain cover (additional wiring to the computer), but it's separate from the opti.
