well first off ive been building a camaro now for about a year its been a every day after work job and finally i got it to 90% finished and it looks amazing... i can post a link for pics of the car soon.. but my questions are as follows:

1. Where should the oil guage be sitting at when at idle? it seems when i sit at idle at a light it drops down pretty low and this isnt something new ive noticed ive noticed this on all 3 of my camaros.. i do notice that when i step on the gas well naturaly it builds up pressure and the guage then rises but my concern is what is the guage supposed to sit at when at idle..


2.How many quarts does a Transmission on a 94 z28 4L60e need (take) .. the torque converter has fluid in it already but im curious how many quarts the tranny takes by itself after a filter change and drain.. and what fluid would you guys recomend for a new tranny with a b&m shift kit?

The factory aren't all that accurete. But with the engine warmed up, and the proper viscosity oil, as a general rule: minimum 5 PSI at idle and an additional 10 PSI PSI minimum for each 1000 RPM.

 

i have a 100k miles on the motor with a 1yr old high volume oil pump and it sets just above the first mark at operating temp and idle. i assume thats 20lbs at the mark. runs just above the third mark at highway speeds at op temp and sets there when cold and idling. i noitced last yr the pressure was dropping ( 10lbs at idle at op temp) and i needed to change the pan gasket so i put that oil pump in. as for the trany question the book says it takes 10 pt on the drain and refill.
