Default Build questions.

So , I'm a broke guy that's managed to piece back $50+ a paycheck into savings for quite some time now , im up to right about $1600... And with some normal spending money , i picked up another 95 engine , and have been tearing it down to have the block machined.. I figured id just build what i wanted slowly... But being as ive never messed with anything other than a stock bottomend , i figured what the heck , lemme ask and be smart for being so stupid ;D

So the point of my saving is i wanted a pretty hefty build.. And ive never done anything but cam up.. Never had the reason to.. So Ive just wondered..

Is a kit such as this a complete crock? I'd have no problem spending on it if it was a pretty good kit... As well as being a good combo with either le2 or le3 heads with their largest option cam without ordering a custom..

This will be a replacement engine for my '95.... I want the ability to say , yeah it pulls blah blah amount of hp.. But in reality , maybe some aggressive throttle in 2nd and 3rd is all i do..... More of a build preference just to have it...

I plan on putting up to 5k under the hood.. its a no rush matter , my current lt is running swell.

Also , a question not pertaining to the engine... Tho ive owned many manuals , ive had a need for beefing up one.. What exactly do you do to beef up a manual.. I mean i think i read that their rated at something ridiculously high stock.... but just on a rebuild end , that i will of course do when i drop the finished engine , whenever that might be.

if your going to stroke the motor would be best to have it done at a reputable shop. cost about 3k probly a little more. thats to do the block. lt1s like high compression so if your not doing any kind of boost 11.5 or 12 to 1 compression will still let you run pump gas.

If you go the boosted route, you'd want to switch to forged pistons. Hypereutectic don't like boost all that much. N/A they'll do fine.

Like Craby said, look at about 3k for the block alone. That would include cleaning, magnaflux, boring, etc. as well as clearancing the block for the longer stroke.

I'd personally like to see someone do a high comp. 383. There's too many boosted 383s running around IMO.
