Build to beat C5 Z06

So I REALLY like the C5 Z06. Love the way it looks, but more importantly, love the performance.
I would also have to spend about $15k-$20k to get a really nice, low mileage used one.
I also love the look of the LT1 Camaros and HATE the catfish look of the LS1 Camaros.
SO:
If I had a budget of $10k, could I build my Z (95 convertible M6) to out accelerate, beat in top speed (up to 170 MPH) and be slightly under the handling capability of a stock C5 Z06? I am more concerned with the acceleration and top speed, more than handling.
I also want to not destroy my gas mileage (like under 18 highway) and I don't want a REALLY radical cam (need to be able to give it to my mom to go grocery shopping)
And no nitrous! FI is fine (prefer T/C over S/C), but NA would be epic as well
And that budget has to take into account strengthening other components to hold said power.
Not too worried about traction unless Im gonna completely lose it at a 6-4 downshift and WOT.
This is just theroretical, and isnt gonna happen anytime soon, but I would LOVE to hear what different opinions you guys have.
Also, I will do the labor myself, so the only labor costs would be machining and dyno tuning.
What have you guys got?

So with that budget, what would you do to get a well balanced vehicle?
again, gearing towards speed, but without other stuff breaking?

pretty much the same thing that has been done to my motor plus stroking it to a 383. you have the 6 sp so trany should hold. rearend would need to be switched to a 12 bolt. that would put you over budget.

i hate to be the that guy who says it. but if your such a big fan of the c5 then why not sell the camaro and take the 10g and buy one? Im not trying to be a **** but the c5 is just e better set up car it is the next evolution in the vette and was designed after are 4 gen camaros obviously. you could probably get a nice one for 15-18 grand.
I personally love the c6 if any thing ever happens to my 95 camaro i plan on getting a plan Jane one

Hahaha ok didn't want to sound like a Brah from the fast & furious but nitrous is not what is is going to buy if he wanted nitrous =p NOS = Nitrous Oxide System.
Nitrous is the power that flows in the system =p so what I said was buy a Nitrous system.
