I doubt it. You have an OBD1 computer with an OBD2 plug so a regular scanner won't work with it. You need a laptop and one of these: OBD Diagnostics, Inc. - ALDL (GM OBD1) Cable with 16 pin Connector

I have all the cables and software (lt1 edit) but my laptop will not connect.

torque_is_good Feb 2, 2012 07:58 AM

the web site claims it will work. The link provided by craby is to the same model scanner which I own. The 9145 works on the 95Z's and of course on OBD2 vehicles

I believe Actron has retired the 9145 and replaced it with a nicer unit but it's still pricey (i think it's the 9180 but am typing this from memory)

the 9145 fits my needs and I paid more than $160 for it. I would love the graphing feature of the newer Actron but it's not enough to make me open my wallet.

Hoping to revive this thread and get some results. I just bought an innova 3120b OBD1and2 scanner with the OBD2 plug. I have the 1995 a4 z28. This scanner doesn't work and im on a tight budget. Any other options or brands out there I can use. I saw there is a setup with the usb laptop plug in, but im not sure which route to take. Please let me know folks, thanks.

have you tried different years or vehicle? i have to use a 92 to get mine to work on the 93. do you just want to see if there are trouble codes and what they are or are you looking to see the sensor readouts. to get codes try this with scanner on obd1. http://shbox.com/1/xraycable.jpg

This keeps coming up in all forums I know of. The Innova 3120b will not work on a 94 or 95. One that works is the Actron CP9145, if you can find one used. Or the Actron CP9185 (new). Both are Pricey. Make sure it has the power adapter cable (cigar lighter or battery clips). Don't believe any comments about either one being only for OBD2.
See one user's response about his 95 Formula: http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP9145-...RankDescending

If you have a Windows pc that can be placed in or near the car, you can use a $55 cable from Red Devil River and my software, Scan9495 (free).

There are options for Android devices also but are very limited, and the Bluetooth adapter "cables" cost about $80 and up.

I have the 95 so it takes that obd2 16 pin plug with the obd1 scanner. I just want something basic to read the check engine codes
