been fighting this power drain for 8 months

Well ever since I bought the car
I put a new battery in two alternators and I even used my red top batt and the car is drained in less than two days and sometimes over night
When I tested for drain I thought it was my courtesy fuse because that was my biggest drop when I had my meter on it and started pulling fuses
Then one week I didn't drive it for three days and car was dead
Is there something I'm missing or clueless on about this car?

with the key off test the small (exciter) wire to the alternator to see if its getting power. so with all the fuses out does the battery drain?

Something in pulling more power than it should. I got my car for a great price due to an electrical problem (power drain). It turned out to be the aftermarket alarm that original owner installed. I removed the alarm and problem solved.

What power drains are not standard on the car? Alarm? Amp?

Do what Craby suggested first, pull all fuses and then check for the drain. If something is still draining the battery, check the power terminal mounted on the passenger fender and disconnect those feeds one at a time to see if the drain disappears.

Lol I think that is why I got this 93 for 2k
This car appears to have had some form of alarm
But doesn't work or ever go off
Some clear box was under console with a flashing red/ green light
I wish I knew what wires to disconect lol

track the wires and disconnect them, as you do this look for wires that have been cut, tapped into and rerouted through your antitheft unit, make sure that they are reconnected to the proper color coded wires in the original location

Man I wish I could show you this mess. Remember my vats code issue on my other post craby?
I'm starting to think its tied together somehow

In the far upper left there is a black box with carbide on the cover there was two fuse blocks which o pulled them out a week ago

And yes there is a brown wire loose and cut up but I figured it was a ground?
The other box that is clear has a green/red/yellow/blue wire plug going into it

This is my number and I have no problem shooting pics. 1 573 587 6746.

Ok a little update. Car sat for over 2 days and fired up
I pulled the courtesy fuse and that was it. Other than pulling those alarm fuses

There is an alarm system called carbine so the prior owners put a. Walmart special in there

craby 07-26-2011 12:31 PM

check the light in the center consol. it may be on all the time. i would think that light would take a day or two to run a good battery down. i would consider a new red or yellow top battery in the near future.

grabbem88 07-26-2011 05:34 PM

Battery is a 6 month old unit. My red top was in my race car and I bought that back in 2002 and has never failed me lol

On the center console issue I cut those wires out plus glove box and map lights the only light left is the dome light
I just gotta see where all these wires go to from the carbine alarm and hope for the best

I did try uploading pics on photobucket with phone but can't get them to this site from photobucket by using phone so gonna have to wait till I get to a real computer to show ya this mess

Btw thanks for helping craby. I just think this car was neglected and not loved by a true car guy so things are indeed out of the norm for common camaro issues
