Default Bad battery cables?

Hello. I have a '95 Z28. I was out running some errands, and when I tried starting the engine, it wouldn't turn over and I noticed the dash display wasn't working (no idiot lights, etc.). I thought that it couldn't be the battery, because I just put in a new one last year. I popped open the hood to check the battery terminals, I thought maybe there wasa bad connection. It looked okay, so I slammed the hood shut. Well, when I got back in the car, it turned over a few times, but not long enough to start the engine. After sitting there a few minutes, I got it started and began driving down the road. THen, without warning, the car died. I pulled over and finally was able to restart the engine. Then, I was able to drive it home the remaining 3 miles without incident. Could this be a problem with the battery cables? Maybe they're corroded? Thanks.

Why don't you take a look? Hard to see what the cables look like by just talking about them.
