Default Alternator????

Ok so here is the deal. Last week my 95z died all of a sudden on the highway. battery gauge was in the red right before that. i took off the alternator and took it to autozone. they tested it and said everything was good. so i bought a batterry. well since then the battery gauge still hasnt been in the normal operating range and tonight it left me stranded once agan. the lights outside and inside just went completely dimm and then car died. so is it possible alternator was good when they tested it somehow and now its bad again? or could it be something else?

alternator tested good

new battery and it went dead

couple of questions

do you by any chance have a big honking sub or amp ?

do you have underdrive pulleys?

do you drive an automatic and do a lot of stop and go and idling with lights, wipers, stereo and A/C or defogger running?

then, have you checked the cables and also is the drive belt tight?
