ABS INOP + ASR light =?????
First off I'd like to say I'm new to the LT1 world. But this site has alot of great info that has helped me. Thanks!
I recently bought a 96 Camaro Z28 with 70k miles. Like the title says while driving both the ASR light and ABS INOP will come on and stay on till the car is shut off. When the car is restarted the light is off but will eventually come back on while driving.
The only thing I can feel wrong while driving is it seems like the traction control is engaging at very soft acceleration and showing low traction even when no wheel spin happens.
I used a scan tool and the code that came up was right front wheel speed inaccurate. First thing that came to my mind was speed sensor, but wanted to get some other opinions.
Once again thanks for all the great info!

If your front hub is like the 98-02 then the sensor is built into the bearing assembly. When those go bad they can also take a sensor out too. It is replaced as a unit and does not take too long to do.

don't mind if I thread-jack here, but my ABS and ASR have been inop as long as I've had the car too. When the shop tried to scan it, they couldn't even communicate with the ABS system. Do I need a new ABS module?
hard to say, Pre OBDII cars sometimes need special equips to link to the ABS system. OBDII cars can be read throug the data port.
See if you can install a known good unit in your car or install your unit into a car with a known good system.

You can check each sensor by connecting a multimeter to the connector from each wheel and spin the wheel. You should see a few mV if the sensor is good. My 97 has this problem and after checking this way the problem went away. I'm sure replugging the connectors cured a bad connection.
Rear sensors are easy to change and cheap but the fronts are built into the hub I think. Believe the front flex cables are prone to breaking down internally.
