96 Z28 upgrades.

hey guys, i am going to put a little money into my car this summer.
1. my car seems to ride stiff and bumpy, help? (replaced struts last fall)
2. i am going to purchase a near rear gear (something bigger than the 3:23)
3. longtube or regular headers?
4. my sway bar links keep breaking/ clicking, why?
5. is my clutch bad, or is there just oil leaking on it?
6. what kind of clutch should i get?
7. any other suggestions?
specs: i have a 6-speed w/ the LT1, flowmaster exhaust, moroso cold air intake.

that's a lot of questions there man...i'd first get the issues you have with the car before you start modding things any further.

are your springs still good? they are getting old and could be failing.

going to need a lot more info about your sway bar links than what you gave us

how would we know if its just oil leaking on your clutch?

3:73 gears
longtube headers if legal in your area
spec stage 3 clutch

1 check your ball joints, check your control arm bushings, check your tierod ends.
2 kool go for it.
3 kooks long tube
4 is it breaking or clicking or clicking and then breaking? how many times has it been replaced?
5 yes
6 a new one and dont forget a new pressure plate.
7 how much money u got?

everytime i turn, they just make a clicking noise in the front. i replaced them once, but maby that didn't (obviously) do the job? does this sound like a different problem to you guys? how can you tell if my springs (in the rear, correct?) are bad or not?

craby Apr 14, 2010 12:30 PM

ive read that worn control arm bushings will do that.

the clicking may be something like the ball joints. after you do get the engine upgrades you want you may want to get a programmer or have it dyno tuned. its the only way to get the real performance out of your mods.

1 Def sounds like ball joints
2 Go to 410 dont be a pansy you have a 6th gear
3 Long tubes are more power, more noise, Kooks or SLP longtubes
4 Not enough info, when do they break?? specific times??
5 Terrible question, no offense
6 Centerforce and Zoom are nice ive had both (GET STAGE 2)
7 LS1 driveshaft, GT rear dif cover with the gear (makes a big dif back there)

redemption91 Apr 15, 2010 10:11 AM

darknight, could you be more specific with the GT cover with gear part? GT being brand? also guys, im looking for a used short throw and gear for the back? any help?

DarkKnight Apr 15, 2010 10:23 AM

dont buy a used gear, seen it, bad plan, get on ebay a 410 is like 180 by motive gear
and for the cover, heres the link, its a gertile, it will help the rear end hold around 100 more hp and 150 trq, and we all know our lovely 7.5 in rear ends are in need or help http://static.summitracing.com/globa...me-8510400.jpg
