Unhappy 95z not running so great.

My 1995 z28 is having a really hard time starting if it has been sitting for 2+ hours. It will never start on the first try but always manages to kick over on the second. Also, it will start sometimes and then within 5 seconds dip to low on rpms and die. Warmed up it drives fine but has power issues and irregular response right after starting.
Second, I get a very noticeable vibration from right underneath my console when shifting (auto) occurs under any heavy acceleration. I had to put in a new tranny mount about a month ago and am quite sure this may be part of it.
Anyone got any idea as to what is causing these problems?

try turning the key on and let the fuel pump pressure up a few times before trying to start it and see if that helps. if it does then its most likely the fuel pump.
what trans mount did u use. if its a solid poly mount that is why. the solid mount transfers vibration bad.

Yeah I used a solid poly mount. This problem with the trans didnt happen until a few weeks after putting the new mount on. Right after I installed it I could definently feel a difference, but it was not nearly as bad as this vibration. Its more of a shudder really. My trans has always had a problem shifting under high rpms but not this low before.

Thanks for the fuel pump idea I will try that today.

I tried leaving it in the on position for a bit before trying to start it and that helped a lot. Do you think my fuel pump is going out?

lol i was saying to turn it on and let the pump go on and pressure up then turn it off and back on again and let the pump pressure up again. better do a pressure testi. im not sure why it would work better by letting it set with the key on. maybe the computer had time to clear or something is going on with the fuel pump.

Or maybe just waiting for the initial prime did the trick. Sometimes an engine can start easier if you wait for the first few seconds that the pump takes to prime the fuel system, as opposed to just turning the key and trying to start the engine right away.

So yeah its still having trouble starting. The thing that worries me most is the tranny. I took it out last night and when it tried to shift while at 4k rpm it shuddered. It shuddered so bad I saw my whole console shaking. It refused to shift until I let off. I hate my transmission right now. Its not the mount I installed, its just the damn thing wont shift properly. Do I need a whole rebuild?

^ That could be the source of a shudder, too bad he has an automatic though!
