95 Z28 rearend

So I took my z28 out today for the first time in a few months, and busted the rearend when I hit 2nd gear.....I knew it was only a matter of time. But Im wondering, are all rearends for these camaros disc brakes and posi?

Are there any other rearends that are close to fitting with minor mods...that are stronger than the stock ones? Thanks guys.

I am fairly certain that all of the rear ends out of the Z28s are disc and posi. There are different gearing options depending on whether it came out of an auto or manual car though. I also believe that there are differences between the ABS sensor between the early years and later models. All of the stock Z28 rear ends are about the same in the strength department. There are a lot of options out there for you to build a stronger axle than what you can get from the local pick-n-pull.

The rear end from a sixer is not the same as that found in a Z28.

correct any 4th gen camaro rearend will fit, 93-02. z28 stock rearend is positrac with disk brakes. if you have traction control (two sensors one on each axle by brakes) you will want a unit with tractin contol. if you dont have tc ( one sensor in the center of the rearend) you will want a unit without tc.

It only has the 1 sensors, lucky for me. I took it apart and it stripped the Pinion gear. So Im looking at the gear set and I know the carriers have series 1,2,3....how can I tell with series this one is....Thanks

i believe 3.08 and under is 2 and over 3.08 is series 3

Is there a way to look at it and see if which series it is?

Has any body ever run a 4.56 or 4.10 behind a 6 speed? I had 3.73 in there.

I was looking at rearends, but it is unreal how much a 12 bolt or ford 9in is for these cars.....I guess Ill have to keep changing gears...lol

410 is a fav choice for most guys with 6sp that want to improve times and still not lose to much mpg.

Is there a way to see which series my rearend is? its not the factory one and the gear had been replaced, is there something I can look at to tell?

i ran into the same sorta questions when i ordered the 373 gears for my old rearend. i ended up ordering the series 3 gears and it was right. i would say all z28 4th gens have a series 3 carrier. http://www.tacreationsusa.com/differential_carriers.htm

That sounds good. i wish those aftermarket rearends.werent so costly...is there a stronger brand of gear? I installed some richmond gears in my s10.
