94 Z28 Mass Air FLow Sensor Problem
 

So i took my camaro again to the shop because of boggin issues and they ran it trought the computer and it said that the mass air flow sensor is bad and that the O2 sensors said that there was too much air going trough. I have replaced the sensor twice in a span of a year and a half. Both times i bought a new sensor straight from the Chevy dealership and they are not that cheap. Wat could be causing the same sensor to go bad?? Is there something im not looking at?? Pleas help im about to give up on the LT1!!!

The problem may be with another part of the circuit and not the MAF. Since the ’94 Camaro uses the ODB1 trouble codes, I assume you are getting a code 48, which doesn’t necessarily mean your MAF is bad. The shop you took your car to may have said you had a bad MAF, but they could be wrong. I recommend doing voltage tests. See the post listed below that I grabbed from the LS1/LT1 forum. I am also assuming that you are not removing the MAF screen each time.

Code 48: MAF sensor circuit: Check for faulty circuit from MAF sensor to ECM/PCM

“Check for a 5 volt reference, check for a ground, and check for a signal from the MAF. Those are what the three wires do in that connector. Also be very sure that your airbox is intact or if you are used a cold air intake the filter element isn't coming apart from the inside and being sucked through your MAF. Some cheaper systems use bogus air filters that can't hold uo to the LT1 air demands. The sensor is extremely fragile inside, and that is why the screen is there. Mr.Exacto is correct with the testing recommendation. It is easy to do and gives you a definite yes or no if the sensor is providing ECU with correct info.
