94 lt1 swap: checklist?
Alright so Iv done a fair amount of research on the 4th gen v6 to lt1 swap. Iv been accumulating the parts here and there but some checklists say different parts are necessary for the swap. So i figured Id make my own checklist and see if anyone who has experience with the swap can add or subtract from what I need here.
What I have: So far.
94 lt1 motor from an SS camaro
Th400 transmission (I was told that, but Im unsure on how to confirm the model of tranny.) The serial number on the side was 523 CD68-299292
94 SS computer and wiring harness
AC compressor and pump
Power steering pulley and reservoir
Tensioner pulley
Alternator
Water pump
MAF sensor
Serpentine belt
Motor mounts
Accessory Bracket
Rear end from a 97 with 3.43 gears
Exhaust manifolds w/ 02 sensors
What I need: I think.
1 piece driveshaft. ( I hear the 3rd gen v8 driveshafts are exact bolt ons?)
Lt1 radiator with dual fans
lt1 cross member
lt1 y pipe
So far from what Iv read, that seems to be the moajority of it, but if there is more please chime in
Thanks.

Alright what you will need to the v6-v8 swap.
these are all parts for a lt1
-you need the engine wiring harness and the engine bay wiring harness and they must be 94 harnesses.
- you will need all lt1 accessories and brackets. the only thing you can reuse is the ac pump.
-lt1 fan shroud and fans.
-4l60e tranny
-lt1 front crossmember/Kmember
-motor mounts
-computer out of any lt1 fbody
-gauge cluster
-springs
-fuel pump
-hoses to the heater core
-forward fuel lines.
-transmission cross member
-you may need to replace the trq arm. i didnt they do look the same though just had a bracket to bolt the two piece drive shaft to.
- a rear axle with posi can be out of any z but i recommend getting one with 3.42
-you will need the entire exhaust system.
-intake set up
- cruise control cable and throttle cables had to be replaced on mine they didnt fit the throttle body
-radiator.
- parking brake cables becuase the drum brake cables wont fit disk brakes.

i may be missing something its been a while since i did my conversion. Where do you live?

i went to advanced and got a bosch for a 95 z28 i would recommended getting one for a 94. i would also recommend get a walbro they are supposed to be a better pump
I know Walbro is a popular pump for DSMs. I had a waly 255 in my eclipse. Im not sure what size would be sufficient for the v8 lt1. A 255 on stock injectors would be overkill.
And @ Crabby, I still need to identify the exact model of the tranny I do have. Anyone know of way of breaking down the serial number like a vin? Or even like a typical serial number for certain trannys?

The vin number from the car should be stamped on the tranny. That should give the year, I think unless its on a partial. Without the year it will be tuff. I am not sure why you need to know exactly what 400 you have, there are not many changes and it is NOT a transmision that is going to work with your computer system. If your 94 PCM is from a automatic its going to have plugs for the 4l60e and your PCM needs to know how fast you are going.

Just a double check

BTW; I am not sure where you got a 94 SS computer from? but GM did not make a 4th gen SS until 96. Which would be a OBD2 system.
