93 z-28 ABS sensor location

ok is the abs light blinking or on steady? i must be wrong on the sensors at the rear. i could have sworn there were wires at the rear when i did a brake job a couple years ago, sorry bout that. have u changed either of the front hubs or done any work on the car reacently?

Seem to recall from previous posts that the rear sensor is in the diff on pre 96ish models. My 97 has sensors on each rear wheel.
It was doing the same, error light on solid after few hundred yards. I reseated the front sensor connectors while changing the pads and it fixed the problem.

If you have a pre 96 you can't have traction control thus the car has an individual wheel speed sensor for each of the front wheels and one for the rear wells that is located in the rear differential. The same goes for 96+ cars that do not have TCS. If your ABSinOp light is steadily on you may have a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor or one of the special "flexi" wire's for the fronts could be going/gone bad.

usually if a wheel speed sensor goes, you'll have a SES for it also. Slvr, explain this "flexi" wire's for me. I've had a ABS inop light on for over a year and three dealerships have threw up their hands at it.

As far as I know (meaning I haven't personally replaced nor delved into them) the front wheel speed sensors have a special connector/wire that is supposed to be more resistant to flexing (because the front wheels turn). On occation these can go bad (either the wire itself from the turning motion, or potentially the connector) and this can throw an ABS in OP light. I had that light for some time and it fixed itself *shrugs* so I never had to deal with it...
